What is Ejari

Providing the beautiful spaces in the best places.

What is Ejari?

Ejari, meaning "My Rent" in Arabic, is a legal initiative introduced by the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) in Dubai. It requires all landlords, property management companies, and their representatives to obtain Ejari certification in order to legally rent or lease properties within the city. Established under Law No. 26 of 2007, the system aims to regulate the rental market by ensuring that all tenancy agreements are properly registered, transparent, and fair to both landlords and tenants.

How Does Ejari Work?

Registering a tenancy agreement through Ejari is a simple process. It involves submitting basic details such as property information, the rental company’s name, and the terms of the agreement. Once registered, the agreement is given a unique barcode, which acts as a reference throughout the contract's duration. RERA keeps a record of the agreement, ensuring that any updates or modifications are accurately reflected in the system.

Why is Ejari Important?

Ejari is essential in Dubai’s real estate sector as it ensures transparency and accuracy in the rental market. It provides a clear overview of the rental landscape, assisting with future planning and regulating aspects like supply and pricing. For landlords, tenants, and property management companies, Ejari offers protection by clearly outlining the rights and responsibilities of each party, promoting fair and transparent rental practices.
